There are moments in our lives when we forget something. Happens all the time. Whether it be something important like a doctor;s appointment or your own wedding. or something as simple as leaving an ingredient out of a recipe and then remembering when you bite into it, our minds can be like Swiss Cheese.

I woke up this morning amd set out to do my normal routine. Th only problem is that I popped a rib last week and this morning it was particularly painful. So I was a tad distracted. After doing everything I usually do to get ready, I made my way to work with my son Alex, I already had that nagging feeling that I had forgotten something. I couldn;t quite put my finger o n it but I had.

The news was starting on the radio so I pushed it to the back of my mind. And then breakfast at work. And then work started. And then servic calls and estimates. But it sat in my mind, peeking out occasionally and making me pause….what did I forget?

And so my side still hurt, so I finally gave in and went to the hospital to have it checked. I went through the process of triage, and talking to the health care professionals, then waiting, then talking, then waiting, then waiting some more. And since I had so much time, my mind once again went to: what did I forget? It was really bothering me now. I retraced my day in my mind. Went over every moment and retraced my stes. It was something simple but vital, or else I would have let it go. But it just wouldn’t come. Then they called me for x-rays. I though ‘yYes! Finally!’ and let the nagging questions go once more.

In the x-ray room, they made me strip my coat off and my t-shirt. And it was nippy, as you can imagine. The x-ray technician manipulated me just so, making sure she had the best shots. And at one point she said ‘grab the bar above you and raise arms so i can take the next shot, please’ which I did. And then it hit me. I remembered finally what it was I forgot this morning.

I had forgotten underarm deodorant. And by the look on the face of the tech, she realized that too.

Well at least it was no longer nagging at me.
